DAY 3 • JULY 18
Peter Kernel is a Swiss-Canadian art-punk band, formed by Aris Bassetti (guitar, vocals, and graphic designer) and Barbara Lehnoff (bass, vocals, and filmmaker). Inspired by a love story, they say that they make “music that anyone can play in an attempt to satisfy man’s basic human instinct: a beat, something loud and a few words. Primary rock.”
The band was originally formed in 2005 to write the soundtrack for the experimental musical titled “Like A Giant In A Towel ” (presented at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2006), and directed by the bassist Barbara. In 2008 they released their first album “How To Perform A Funeral “. Suddenly, Peter Kernel is called by the Canadian band Wolf Parade to open their European tour in September 2010. Recently, Peter Kernel has shared the stage with bands like Mogwai, Cat Power, Blonde Redhead, Notwist, Wild Beasts, and Kurt Vile.
